Data & Networking
We are your Data & Networking installation specialists
How can we help you?
Good data networks need to be carefully planned and designed from the ground up, otherwise data bottlenecks can occur which will slow down your entire network. This is especially true with today’s bigger file sizes and media streaming that we all take for granted
Wired Networks
Cat6 & Cat6A data cabling is the norm these days. Workstations, VoIP phones, printers, they all work the best on a wired network
Wireless Networks
Wifi in the home or office has never been as important as it is now. You need reliable Wifi to get the best from your mobile devices
Wired Networking
You can’t beat the reliability of a structured cabling system
Structured cabling systems
Data networks are no longer just for large organisations. They are now common place in most business’s and the average modern New Zealand home. A wired network has many advantages over a wireless network such as speed and reliability.
In today’s society, it is becoming increasingly common to “stream” large video files across networks. Most TV’s and home amplifiers now have a network connection, this allows you to watch downloaded material on your big screen television, or listen to your music collection or internet radio stations on your home stereo. of course, none of this would be possible if you don’t have the network infrastructure in place
The type of system that makes all of this possible, and gives you flexibility is called a structured cabling system. In simple terms, a structured cabling system allows you to (among other things) plug in a computer or a television into any outlet and share media with other computers or televisions on your network
Structured cabling systems are mainstream in new houses now, and almost all business’s have a network system of some type. Our techs are able to visit your premises and advise on options available and the benefits you could achieve by installing such a system

Do I really need a wired network?
Rule of thumb – if your device has a network port, then you should use it
Any servers, NAS drives, NVR’s or desktop computers should all be hard wired if its possible to do so. If your TV has a network port, then you should hard wire that too
The simple reality is, you can’t beat the reliability and performance of a hard wired connection. This needs to be weighed up against the feasibility of installing a cable to the device, but if you can, then you should
Our techs will undertake a site survey and then sit down with you and discuss the options. Once we agree on what devices should be hard wired, we then need to determine if we should use Cat6 or Cat6A.
Our techs install a product called Molex. We are certified by the manafacturer and can draw on them for technical support and 20+ year warrantys for those corporate installs where its requested

WiFi in the home or at the office
Ever get frustrated when a website or a facebook message wont load? Sick of waiting for that video to start playing? This is becoming a big problem in households everywhere, as more and more people are using hand held devices and interacting with each other on various social media platforms
Our techs are trained in installing Ubiquiti Unifi – the standard for hi-performance WiFi. The Unifi product family is commercial grade WiFi suitable for any property big or small, indoors or outdoors with as little as 1 user or as much as thousands of users

What type of system do I need?
You need a system that has the capacity to handle the amount of users and data that you are likely to use
With the likes of Netflix now solidly ingrained into our daily lives it is easy to under estimae your usage requirements, so it is better to over estimate rather than err on the conservative side
Our techs can discuss this with you so you can make an informed decision on what product will best fit your requirements – just because you might have a high usage doesn’t necessarily mean you need to install more WiFi points, it might simply mean an HD (high density) access point might be more suitable for you, so it is always best to discuss your usage patterns with us so we can recommend the best solution for you
Even if you need more than 1 access point, Unifi has you covered. When you move about your property and connect from 1 AP to another, the transition is seamless – you wouldn’t even know. This is one of the big differences between commercial grade WiFi and the traditional router + extender setup that alot of homeowners try – there is better, and our techs can make this a reality for you
Want full control of your network and want to see stats of what’s been happening? by adding a Unifi gateway to your network, this can become a reality too. This will enable you to make many adjustments to your network and give you control of the devices connected to it – including blocking certain devices after a set time, etc. With it’s advanced firewall you can create VLANS, VPN’s Port forwarding and many other handy features
Network Management
Got a good reliable network? Being able to properly manage it will take it from good to great!
There’s 2 parts to network management:
- Infrastructure management (building wiring)
- Hardware management (routers, switches, access points)
We can maintain as little or as much of your network as you want. Some clients only require their infrastructure to be installed and they then take over the management, but some clients (particularly high end residential and small to mid-sized business’s) often just want a turnkey solution. Our network management will provide exactly that
Infrastructure management
Once you’ve got your data network all installed, its practically maintenance free. That is, until you move some furniture around and you no longer have an outlet for that printer where you need it, or you have a new staff member come onboard, and add another desk to your office. Sure, you might be able to sole it by buying a longer patch lead and run it under the carpet or something – but did you know, a network will only run as fast as the slowest link? You risk slowing your entire network down by installing dodgy cords across the floor – you should have your integrator assess the changes needed and put the proper cabling in where you need it if you want to maintain optimal network performance
“Our techs are trained in assessing your infrastructure and making changes to suit your new enviroment”
Hardware Management
Want full control of your network and want to see stats of what’s been happening? We can provide and install routers, switches and wireless access points that all talk to each other. Our network controller marrys all of your hardware together creating what is called a software defined network (SDN)
